Go Vote!

An election costs one thousandth of the government's yearly budget. Considering that generations of Canadians have paid for democracy with their blood and lives, we have a great deal. At 10 times the cost it would be worth it.

Voting only takes about half an hour every couple years at the most. You probably spend way, way more time buying milk, so if you value democracy nearly as much as milk, don't let them discourage you, please, go vote.

Here we go again!

The 2011 Canadian federal election is scheduled for May 2, 2011 because the Members of Parliament voted a motion of non-confidence in the Conservative minority government on March 25, 2011, finding it in contempt of parliament.

Contempt

Harper and his government have been found in contempt of Parliament.

In all the countries in the Commonwealth and for all the centuries that these governments have served, this has never, ever happened before. This is because a government must not violate its own laws, and ignore the will of elected representatives in a democracy.

From last year

Last year they were nearly found in contempt over the Afghan Documents issue.

When a government starts trying to cancel dissent or avoid dissent is frankly when it's rapidly losing its moral authority to govern.
Lorsqu’un gouvernement commence à essayer de neutraliser ou d’éviter la dissidence, franchement, il perd rapidement l’autorité morale de gouverner

Stephen Harper - 18-04-05
